I am going through my taxes (using HR block), and am running into some confusion about the stimulus checks and the Tax credit which can be applied if you didn’t receive the stimulus.
I received both of the first and second stimulus checks, my now wife (married 10/2020) did not, as she was claimed as a dependent last year by her grandmother as she was out of work. Now, she was too old to qualify for the child payments to have had money added to her Grandmothers stimulus, so from both payments, nothing was paid out in her name.
Once I put in her info into our taxes married filing jointly, it is adding money for the stimulus amounts for her.
My question is, should this be happening since she didn’t qualify at the time of payments? I am worried that this money being added is improper.
